Removing an iPhone from someone’s hand is probably the ultimate AI cleanup test, and Apple’s latest version of Clean Up in Photos passed it.
Clean Up in Latest Version of Apple Intelligence is Miles Better than Before, Thanks to Cloud-Based AI Models
Hold something in your hand right now, and then use the Clean Up feature in Photos to remove that object. Your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, will completely obliterate that object and mess up your hand at the same time.
Do the same thing using another AI, such as Gemini or ChatGPT, the results are way different. Why? Because on-device AI can only do so much.
With the latest version of Apple Intelligence, running on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate, Clean Up can successfully remove an object and keep your palm in tact.
You can check out one example of this below, posted by Alvin on X:
When you bring cloud-based AI into the equation, things drastically improve, as demonstrated above. But do keep in mind that these features have limits, and Apple is not shying away from that fact either.
You need an iCloud+ account, and definitely not the base one, in order to use these types of Apple Intelligence features more in a single day.
But the bottom line is, Apple’s Clean Up feature finally works as it should, and it can properly remove objects, and generate everything behind it with great accuracy.
