Apple has released developer beta 2 of visionOS 26 for the Vision Pro headset, and you can download it right away.
visionOS 26 Developer Beta 2 Now Available for Download, Install it Today with Bug Fixes and Other Improvements
It’s been two weeks since Apple released a new visionOS 26 update, and today everything changes with the release of developer beta 2.
Available to download over the air for Vision Pro, the new visionOS 26 beta 2 brings a ton of bug fixes and under-the-hood improvements to the table.
In order to download and install visionOS 26 developer beta 2 on Vision Pro, here’s what you have to do:
- Launch the Settings app on your Vision Pro.
- Open General.
- Now open Software Update.
- Download visionOS 26 beta 2 when it shows up.
Testing out Vision Pro beta software is risky. Once you upgrade, you cannot downgrade back, unless you are wiling to shell out some money and know your way around Xcode.
I highlight a couple of things in my downgrade article, so make sure you read that before you do decide to upgrade to visionOS 26.
If you’ve made your mind up regarding the new update and want to install it on your Vision Pro, then check out the tutorial posted here.
In terms of features, visionOS 26 is not a big upgrade, but focuses on quality improvements, such as the inclusion of spatial widgets which you can place anywhere in the environment around you.
Other improvements include native playback support for 180 and 360 content recorded using cameras from Canon, GoPro, and more.
Last but not least, and my personal favorite, the ability to answer your iPhone calls right on your Vision Pro. This feature has been long missing, and it makes perfect sense now that it’s here.
You can expect the full and final version of the update to arrive later this year. If past releases are anything to go by, then expect visionOS 26 to be here in September alongside new iPhone and Apple Watch models.
As usual, the VisionOS 26 update won’t be available as a public beta. But if you still want to test it out, just download it as a developer; it’s absolutely free. Apple has removed the $99 paywall in order to access beta software.
