Wondering whether or not you can downgrade from visionOS 26 developer beta to visionOS 2 on Vision Pro? You have a couple of options.

You Can Downgrade visionOS 26 Beta to visionOS 2 on Vision Pro, but it is Not an Easy Process

Playing around with beta software is all fun and games until you realize that you seemingly can’t downgrade back to the publicly available firmware. In this case, it’s the visionOS 26 developer beta and the publicly available visionOS 2 update.

If you just installed the beta firmware on your Vision Pro out of excitement, and are wondering what your options are when it comes to downgrading back, then you’re not completely out of luck.

Buy the Apple Developer Strap

You can buy the Apple Developer Strap that costs $300. It allows you to connect your Vision Pro headset to your Mac and then downgrade back to the visionOS 2 firmware.

This is a very expensive option and one everyone should avoid it, unless you have spare change lying around and find yourself testing out betas way too much. Then investing in the Developer Strap is totally worth it.

Take the Vision Pro to Apple for Downgrade

After going through a bunch of posts on social media, it turns out Apple can downgrade the headset for you. But there’s a small catch – it may take up to 10 days in order to do that. But you won’t have to buy that super-expensive Developer Strap.

What I will say is, take your headset to Apple instead and look into the options they are providing instead. In my opinion, buying the Developer Strap isn’t worth the money if you’re planning to downgrade your Vision Pro once or twice every couple of years.

If you did get yourself into a situation where you updated by accident and are totally regretting it, don’t be. Apple releases new beta updates on a regular basis, ensuring everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Before you even realize it, your Vision Pro headset will be running smoothly on visionOS 26 developer beta. Just give it some time and don’t panic, unless the headset is your main computer, and it’s highly likely that it is not.
