Developer beta of the new visionOS 26 software update is now available for download and install on the Vision Pro.

visionOS 26 Developer Beta Released for Vision Pro, Download it and Take it for a Test Drive Today

visionOS 26 was announced just a while back with a handful of great new features. Now that the announcement is over and the opening WWDC 2025 is done and dusted, it’s time to turn towards the developer betas of what Apple has announced.

You can download and install the visionOS 26 developer beta on your Vision Pro right away, as long as you have signed up to the Apple Developer Program. You can sign up for free by going to this link.

Once you’ve signed in using your Apple Account, you’re enrolled into the Developer Program in a limited capacity that allows you to test drive beta software.

Follow these steps in order to enable the visionOS 26 developer beta on your Vision Pro:

Note: Once you upgrade to the beta, there’s no going back to it, unless you have Apple’s Developer Strap or willing to pay the Apple Store a visit. Think twice before making the move.

Step 1. Wear your Vision Pro headset.

Step 2. Launch the Settings app.

Step 3. Open General.

Step 4. Open Software Update.

Step 5. Wait for this page to refresh and you’ll see a Beta Updates option at the top. Open it up once you see it.

Step 6. Select and enable the visionOS 26 Developer Beta.

Step 7. Now simply go to Settings > General > Software Update and tap on Update Now when you see the visionOS 26 developer beta.

I will highly recommend that you put your Vision Pro on charge during the entire process so that the installation goes through as smoothly as possible. It’s better not to risk this with low battery remaining.

Once the installation is complete, unplug your headset, wear it, and enjoy the first developer beta of visionSO 26.

Initial software is always going to be buggy, and it won’t be surprising at all if you come across several app crashes and poor battery life.

With every new developer beta, things should be stable enough for daily driving the software. Until then, it’s going to be a rocky road.
