A new report says that Apple is going to release its AI-powered smart glasses next year in order to start competing with Meta.

Apple’s AI Smart Glasses will be Released in 2026 in Order to Compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban AI Glasses

The Meta Ray-Ban might seem like an ordinary pair of glasses with a camera, but they are extremely important to the company as an AI product. So much in fact that Apple has started to feel the heat from it.

For months, it has been rumored that Apple is going to bring a similar product to the market, and a new Bloomberg says that folks over at Cupertino will actually get it done by next year.

Thanks to built-in cameras and microphones, the glasses will be able to analyze the world around it and take requests using Siri. Obviously, the device will be able to do more, such as the ability to translate, play music, and more.

The report goes to say that Apple’s product is going to be a higher quality one compared to what Meta is currently offering with its Ray-Ban.

Apparently, this is such an important project for Apple that it has dropped its plans for an Apple Watch with built-in cameras, a product which was focused towards AI too.

One report from a while back suggested that Apple was going to release its smart glasses sometime in 2027, but given today’s report, it seems as though Apple’s priority has changed dramatically.

Given that Jony Ive is also working with OpenAI for AI-focused hardware, I’m sure people over at Apple have started to take things way more seriously.

I think AI offered in such a fashion (read: smart glasses) is simply boring, and there’s a lot more that can be done. But hey, if that’s how Apple wants to do it, then that’s fine.
