Sam Altman and Jony Ive have formed a new company called io. It will be responsible for creating AI-based products.

OpenAI and Jony Ive’s LoveFrom Come Together to Form io, a Company Tasked with Creating AI Products

Jony Ive has been running his own design firm, LoveFrom, ever since he left Apple back in 2019.

A year ago, he formed a company called io, which was responsible for creating AI products, and it was formed by the best hardware and software designers one can imagine.

Today, io is a part of OpenAI, while Jony Ive’s LoveFrom will be responsible for “deep design and creative responsibilities.”

In an interesting little video shared by OpenAI, Sam Altman and Jony Ive talk about their relationship and passion for creating great products:

Given how awful AI-focused hardware has been to this day, with Humane Pin and Rabbit R1 being epic flops, it feels like Sam Altman and Jony Ive might be onto something here.

However, Sam and Jony don’t talk about the exact devices they are working on, except that they are extremely excited about them, and they show their emotions on video quite clearly.

Whether this device (or devices) is going to be a phone, tablet, or computer, it’s hard to say. But it better not be something without a display. This formula does not work, and it’s quite evident from recent times.

I really want to see what these two are working on. My curiously has gone through the roof at this announcement.
