Apple is no longer signing iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 software updates for iPhone and iPad. Here’s what it means for you.

You Can No Longer Downgrade from iOS 18.4.1 to iOS 18.4 as Apple has Stopped Signing the Older Firmware

A few days back, Apple released iOS 18.4.1 and iPadOS 18.4.1. It was an important bug-fix update and included security fixes too.

Whenever a new software update is released, the old one hangs around for a few days and then Apple stops signing it. This means you can no longer downgrade from iOS 18.4.1 and iPadOS 18.4.1 to iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4.

Should you care about this at all? These days, absolutely not. Because there’s no good reason to stay on older firmware since the jailbreak days are now long gone.

Software version 18.4.1 is extremely important because it fixes a wireless CarPlay issue that was introduced with iOS 18.4. Now that it has been patched, I don’t see any reason why you should care about going back to an older firmware update.

If you’re currently on iOS 18.4 or iPadOS 18.4, it’s highly recommended that you update your device to the latest firmware. You can do that by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
