Apple’s full and final version of the watchOS 27 update for Apple Watch is now available for download and install.

watchOS 27 Now Available for Download with Siri AI, Improvements to Liquid Glass, Enhanced Performance, and More

The wait is over, and the final version of watchOS 27 is now available for download all around the world. However, there are a couple of conditions that should be met before you can download the update.

The first condition is a fairly obvious one – you should have an Apple Watch that is compatible with watchOS 27. Apple dropped support for many models this year, and you have check out the official list below if your device is supported:

  • Apple Watch Ultra 4
  • Apple Watch Ultra 3
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2
  • Apple Watch SE 3
  • Apple Watch Series 12
  • Apple Watch Series 11
  • Apple Watch Series 10
  • Apple Watch Series 9

Secondly, your iPhone must support iOS 27 as well. Even if you have a supported Apple Watch, and your iPhone can’t run iOS 27, you won’t be able to install the watchOS 27 update.

Assuming you already have iOS 27 installed on your iPhone, follow these steps in order to download and install the final version of watchOS 27 on your Apple Watch:

  • Place your Apple Watch on its charger and let it charge beyond 50%.
  • Make sure your iPhone and Apple Watch are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • On your iPhone, go to Watch > General > Software Update.
  • You’ll see the watchOS 27 update in a few seconds. Tap on Download and Install.

Since watchOS 27 is a major update, it will be a while before you can start using your Apple Watch. Therefore, it is recommended that you install this update overnight, so that it does not interrupt your daily usage. Or, you can install it immediately if your routine allows it.

Apple says the new watchOS 27 update has the following build number: 24R363

Downgrade watchOS 27 to watchOS 26?

I’ve been very vocal about this topic, and at this point it must be clear that you cannot downgrade watchOS 27 back to watchOS 26. But the good news is, since watchOS 27 is officially available for everyone therefore you do not have to deal with beta updates at all. I see this as a win, nothing else.

Just install the new update, enjoy Siri AI, a faster watchOS experience, and whatnot. New updates always improve many things over older versions, and if there are issues, Apple is going to fix them right away with the next update.
