You can download iOS 26.7 and iPadOS 26.7 updates for iPhone and iPad if you do not plan on upgrading to iOS 27 or iPadOS 27.
Download iOS 26.7 and iPadOS 26.7 on iPhone and iPad if You Don’t Plan to Install iOS 27 or iPadOS 27
Apple did a similar thing last year when it released iOS 26 and iPadOS 26. Those who weren’t keen on downloading the new Liquid Glass-toting update were allowed to download iOS 18.7 and iPadOS 18.7 instead.
Today, Apple is doing the same thing with the release of iOS 26.7 and iPadOS 26.7. If you don’t want those silly new Liquid Glass refinements or performance improvements from iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, you can download the 26.7 update instead.
In terms of features, iOS 26.7 and iPadOS 26.7 do not bring anything new to the table. But you can expect a load of bug fixes and security enhancements. Basically, this is a major housekeeping update to keep your iPhone and iPad experience as smooth as possible until you do decide to upgrade to version 27.0.
In order to download the new 26.7 updates on your iPhone and iPad, follow these steps:
- Make sure you have 50% or more battery life available on your device.
- Now launch the Settings app.
- Go to General > Software Update.
- You’ll see an option for downloading version 26.7 and 27.0 both here. Just select 26.7 and tap on Update Now.
If you really want to make things bulletproof and avoid every update going forward (although you shouldn’t) then you can disable automatic updates as well. You can do this by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates, and disable the ‘Automatically Install’ toggle switch from here.
I will recommend updating to iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 at a certain point. It’s okay to avoid a major software update for the first few days, giving you plenty of time to assess and see what others are saying about it. Once you’ve made up your mind, you can either upgrade or stick around with 26.7 for a while longer.
