Apple hasn’t said a word, but NASA has confirmed that the iPhone 17 Pro Max is on its way to the Moon, and has sent back photos of Earth.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is on its Way to the Moon, Sends Back Beautiful Photos of Earth from Artemis II
Artemis II, mankind’s Moon mission, is tasked with leaving Earth, going around the Moon, and return valuable data that will help with future missions. This is the beginning to something big.
During the course of its mission, Artemis II is going to send a ton of photos back to Earth, and you’ve already seen a few of them. And interestingly, a couple of them were shot using an iPhone 17 Pro Max, as confirmed by NASA on Flickr. Just have a look at the device the photos
The thing that is definitely worth pointing out here is that these photos were taken using the front-facing Center Stage camera. And usually, such cameras can’t pull off photos like these, yet here we are, left stunned.
Thanks to a Community Note posted on X, this isn’t the first time the iPhone has been to space. The iPhone 12 sent back a photo to Earth shot by Astronaut Jared Isaacman back in 2021, and I’m posting it here for everyone to check out as well:
When it comes to photography gear, the Artemis II crew is equipped with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, GoPro HERO11 action cameras, and the Nikon D5. And, if you want more details about the iPhone 17 Pro Max, then you will be interested to learn that NASA sent up phones in the silver color option.
