The WhatsApp app for Apple Watch is now available for download, allowing users to send and receive messages right from their wrist.
WhatsApp Comes to Apple Watch with Support for Texting, Voice Messaging, and Reacting Support – Download it Today
A few days ago, we learned that WhatsApp was coming to Apple Watch and the app was available for beta testers at the time. The official WhatsApp blog has confirmed today that it is now rolling out to everyone.
Head over to the App Store and download the latest WhatsApp update, and assuming you do have the Apple Watch, the app will install on it automatically.
The app has all the necessary features to keep the conversation going, with support for text and voice both included. You don’t have to pull out your iPhone just for a small reply; it all happens from your wrist now.
But, my favorite feature is the ability to receive WhatsApp call notifications right on Apple Watch as a call is coming through in real time. But, you cannot pick up and talk to people from Apple Watch, and you still have to reach for your iPhone in order to pick up a call.
This is a bit of a bummer, but I’m hopeful that this will change in a future update to the app.
You can view stickers and photos in high quality on the app as well which means you no longer have to deal with a blurry preview of it in a notification that makes little sense.
Users will be able to react to messages from their wrist too. Just tap and hold on a message and then react away.
