Usually, the base model isn’t the best one around, but given the amount of features the iPhone 17 packs, it’s hard to ignore it this year.
From 120Hz ProMotion to 48-Megapixel Cameras, the iPhone 17 is the Best iPhone Apple has Made When it Comes to Value
The one thing that makes the base model iPhone 17 stand out from the rest of the lineup is its display. This year, the iPhone 17 is getting ProMotion 120Hz as well as an always-on display. And, it is slightly bigger at 6.3-inches.
Apple is even calling it the Super Retina XDR display. So yes, it’s as pro as it gets.
When you realize that this display even has Ceramic Shield 2 for better scratch resistance and drop protection, the same as the higher-end models, it immediately starts turning into a great deal.
But, it doesn’t stop there. You even get two cameras on this iPhone – wide and ultra-wide. Both of them are 48-megapixels for high-quality photos and video recording.
At the front, you also get the 18-megapixel Center Stage camera that puts you and your friends in frame like magic. Again, another feature from the iPhone 17 Pro.
Apple is not even sacrificing the fast charging experience on the iPhone 17. You get the same stunning fast charging from the iPhone 17 Pro, allowing you to charge from 0 to 50% in just 20 minutes when paired with a compatible charger.
Even the N1 wireless chip is present here, allowing you to experience Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and Thread. This chip is available across the board for the ultimate Apple ecosystem experience.
Now comes the checkmate move. The base model iPhone 17 comes with 256GB of storage as standard. You don’t have to deal with 128GB at all this year.
When you realize that you’re getting all this for just $799, it becomes hard to justify getting a higher-priced iPhone this year.
This is the first time I’m not going to recommend getting an iPhone Pro. The iPhone 17 delivers on so many ends that it’s hard to ignore. Even though I was considering upgrading to an iPhone Air, I might just take the iPhone 17 route instead.
