Apple is rumored to launch the iPhone 17 Air later this year, and the first reference to it might be hiding inside the new iOS 26 beta 2.
Mystery Wallpaper in iOS 26 Beta 2 Hints at the iPhone 17 Air Display Size
There are numerous reports suggesting that Apple is working on an ultra-slim iPhone for release later this year, called the iPhone 17 Air.
While there have been leaks, mockups, and whatnot depicting the smartphone, there is nothing that comes straight from Apple.
The newly released iOS 26 beta 2 hides a version of the clownfish wallpaper which has the following resolution: 1260-by-2736. Now, the thing is, an iPhone with that screen resolution does not exist, yet.
The discovery was made by Macworld.
The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be as big as the iPhone 15 Pro Max in terms of display size, and if you start piecing the puzzles together, this version of the wallpaper is likely for the unannounced iPhone.
The wallpaper size puts the ‘mystery’ device somewhere between the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Previous reports say the 17 Air will have a 6.6-inch display, which is close to the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 6.7-inch display, but smaller than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, with a 6.9-inch display.
We’re still in the early days of iOS 26, and the iPhone 17 Air is far from announcement. Only leaks and reports from the coming days will give us further confirmation what we’ll be dealing with later this year.
