With the iPhone 17 Air expected to be super-thin, it is going to be massive in size, and it makes perfect sense why.
The iPhone 17 Air is Going to be Super-thin but will Compromise in Size, will be as Big as iPhone 17 Pro Max
A report is floating around that the iPhone 17 Air is going to be as big as the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The dimensions are going to be identical, except the Air is going to be just 5.5mm thin, according to Ice Universe on Weibo.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to be 8.725mm thick, but that thickness will be accompanied by a bigger battery as well.
The thing is, when you try to squeeze so much tech into a chassis that is just 5.5mm thin, compromises are going to happen, with size being one of them.
Just think about it, if the iPhone 17 Air had a 6.1-inch display, the battery would be smaller too. Not only that, logic board components would have to be crammed into a small space as well.
The way this is going to pan out, I have this feeling the iPhone 17 Air might skip MagSafe too. Who knows, it might just take the iPhone 16e route and hold on to Qi wireless charging only.
While Apple’s decision makes sense, I was really hoping for a smaller and thinner phone, not a phone that’s generally considered massive.
We keep on hearing talk surrounding denser batteries from time to time, but I’ve rarely seen them make it to products like a smartphone or a tablet. These things take time, and I’m only going to assume it’s going to be the same in the context of the iPhone 17 Air.
So buckle up, Apple’s thin phone is going to be very big, whether you like it or not.
