If you’ve used a Mac, then you already know about Preview, and Apple is planning to bring it to iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.
iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 will Include Preview App, Same as the One on the Mac
Preview is the go-to app on the Mac if you want to quickly view images, PDF files, and more. According to Bloomberg, Apple is bringing the app to iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 updates.
This app is going to be preinstalled when you download iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, and will launch whenever you want to work on a PDF document.
While it’s abundantly clear what Preview does on the Mac, the report does not go into too much detail about how it will function on iPhone and iPad. I’m only going to assume that it will mimic the functionality of its Mac counterpart.
I’m certain Preview will launch whenever you open an image or PDF from a source such as the Files app. Again, it’s all speculation, and most probably the right one too.
I believe Apple is making this move in order to make iPadOS feel more like a Mac than anything else. But I’m not sure if it is exactly what iPad needs in order to feel like a ‘computer.’
It makes perfect sense where iOS stands – as an operating system for the phone. iPadOS, on the other hand, is perfect as a tablet but barely hangs on to the ‘computer’ branch.
It works when you need it to, but the Mac simply does it better and faster too.
The same report also says that Apple is bringing some amazing changes to the iOS 26 Messages app, where the company will entirely skip Gemini integration with Apple Intelligence.
