A bunch of new features are coming to WhatsApp, and one of them is the ability to create an account right from your iPad.

Users Will be Able to Create a WhatsApp Account Straight from iPad, No iPhone or Android Phone Required

WhatsApp for iPad has been around for quite some time, but it requires you to have an account created using an iPhone or Android phone in order to use it. Thankfully, all of that is about to change.

According to Meta, the parent company behind WhatsApp, the instant messaging app on iPad will allow users to create an account directly using an iPad without the need for a phone. This means you can set up your account from scratch and start using it right on your iPad.

Meta said that this is the biggest feature request they’ve received since they launched the iPad app last year, and now they’re delivering on that request.

Of course, this isn’t the only thing coming to WhatsApp. Meta says users will be able to share what they’re listening to on Apple Music or Spotify straight to their Status, the CarPlay app is getting a big revamp, and web users will be able to view PDFs without downloading them.

If Meta is finally bringing the sign-up feature to iPad, it clearly means there are a meaningful number of users on it. After all, a lot of people actually do get the iPad as their first Apple device, and WhatsApp happens to be the best app if you want to talk across different platforms.
