Today is the 25th anniversary of the iPod, and if you open the Apple Music 404 page, you’ll be greeted with a working first-generation iPod.
Apple Music’s 404 Page has a Fully Working First-Generation iPod on it, a Perfect Throwback to the Music Player’s 25th Anniversary
Whenever you type in a wrong URL, you’ll be greeted with a page that tells you that the page you’re looking for does not exist. That’s what a 404 page is.
Today, if you mistype a URL for Apple Music, you’ll stumble upon an extraordinary 404 page that is a fully functioning first-generation iPod loaded with songs, click wheel and all.
All you have to do is open this link in Safari, and make sure it opens in the web browser, and not the Music app on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Once it opens, you’ll see a large iPod that can be used however you please.
If you never got the chance to use an iPod in your life, this is the day you correct that mistake. You can dig deep into settings and even see what it had to offer back in 2001. Of course, the music-playing experience is an entirely different story here, and thankfully, Apple’s little Easter egg delivers perfectly.
