Thinking of buying one of those ‘minimal’ phones? Or, you could just turn your iPhone into one without spending a dime.
Make Your iPhone Unappealing and Minimal by Doing a Couple of Things for Free
Spending more than $299 on a phone that does nothing is the worst use of money, unless you’re planning to go off-grid or want to turn your life around.
If you have an iPhone and think you have a smartphone addiction that needs solving, then there’s a simple way to manage things.
Start with Grayscale Mode
First of all, you need to make your iPhone display slightly unappealing to look at. You can do that by turning on grayscale mode, which turns your display black and white.

Studies have shown using grayscale mode leads to lesser screen time and anxiety. And, since your iPhone is still a fully functional device even with it enabled, this means you can still stay connected in the most necessary way.
Hide Unnecessary Apps
As long as that app icon is there on the Home Screen, you want to tap on it and see what’s happening inside. Just tap and hold on it and then tap on Remove App and then select Remove From Home Screen.

The app now lives in the App Library. It’s still there on your iPhone, but not going to force you to tap on it with every single glance, the way it should be.
Commit to it
Buying a second phone to escape your first one is not a great idea at all. If you eventually lose your focus, you are now sitting with a phone that costs at least $299.
So, give the above tips a shot and see how far you can take it.
