Instagram Edits App Now Available for Download on iPhone

Instagram has released its promised Edits app for the iPhone, and it is now available for download from the App Store.

Edits was announced back in January, and it is a standalone video editing app by Instagram.

It’s a direct competitor to CapCut, and Instagram hopes that it will eat into its market share with its advanced set of features.

Whether that happens or not remains to be seen; however, you can now go ahead and download the Edits app right away on your iPhone from the App Store for free.

What’s absolutely wild about this app is how it’s available for use from the Mac App Store as well. Either this is a fluke or Instagram really, really wants you to use its app on every single platform.

Update: Edits is no longer available on the Mac App Store and only available for download on iPhone, as expected.

Edits works like any other great video editing app, showing you a proper timeline view of the video you’re working on.

However, the one thing that will definitely sit well with users is the ability to shoot high quality video using your iPhone straight from the app itself.

Rather than forcing you to shoot video using the Camera app and then import it to the app, everything happens under one roof.

You even get the option to export video for use anywhere else without a watermark, which is a huge deal given that this app is free and you don’t have to pay for it.

With built-in AI features, you can add or remove backgrounds, add animated text, animate static images and do so much more.

Instagram has left no stone unturned when it comes to Edits. The effort is definitely there, but will it actually beat CapCut in the long run? The race starts now, folks.
