Due to rising memory costs across the planet, Apple might stop selling the 256GB (base) model of the MacBook Neo.
In Order to Keep Supply Steady, Apple May Stop Selling the 256GB MacBook Neo Completely
The MacBook Neo is so popular, Apple is actually suffering from its success. According to Tim Culpan, Apple has ordered a fresh batch of A18 Pro chips for the MacBook Neo in order to meet its increasing demand.
However, there is a small problem.
That problem is rising cost of memory across the globe because AI data centers are gobbling them up like there’s no tomorrow, and a lot of companies, even Apple, are taking a hit.
In order to ensure steady supply, Apple may stop selling the 256GB base model of the MacBook Neo completely in favor of the 512GB model. So basically, that will push the starting price of the MacBook Neo to $699.
However, the 512GB model does come with the extra perk of Touch ID, which is an added bonus, and double storage will always come in handy if you are planning to keep the MacBook for a long time.
If you factor in education pricing, which happens to be $100 less anyway, you can get the 512GB model of the MacBook Neo for $599.
At the time of writing, Apple is still selling the 256GB model, even though some color options are unavailable for a long period of time.
Do keep in mind that there’s no official word out yet, but it won’t be surprising if Apple discontinues the 256GB MacBook Neo, after all, Apple did stop selling the base model Mac mini just a while ago.
