Apple’s M4 Mac mini, which used to cost $599, now sells at a new price of $799, but it comes with 512GB of storage.

Apple Discontinues M4 Mac mini with 256GB of Storage, Now Starts with 512GB and New Higher Price of $799

The base model Mac mini shipped with 256GB of storage, but Apple has removed that option completely from its website for both M4 and M4 Pro models. In fact, Apple now advertises a starting price of $799 for the Mac mini instead of $599.

However, the Mac mini now starts with a storage of 512GB. Given this change, it seems as though the worldwide storage and RAM shortage has finally caught up to Apple as well.

In case you’re wondering, the Mac mini still ships with 16GB of RAM at least, and that remains unchanged for now.

With the price increase, buying the Mac mini is somewhat confusing at this point. The thing is, you can get a MacBook Neo for $599 with 256GB of storage, or $699 with 512GB. This is a full-blown computer with a display; the Mac mini is not.

But the thing is, the Mac mini is a fan favorite, thanks to its small form factor and the ability to serve its purpose as a local AI workstation. In such cases, something like the MacBook Neo might not give you an edge at all.
