Apple has announced that video is coming to Apple Podcasts for the first time, and it will roll out to everyone this spring.

Video is Coming to Apple Podcasts with New 26.4 Update for iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro

iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, macOS 26.4 beta, and more were released a while ago. The big feature in those updates is support for video in Apple Podcasts.

Though Apple has described the new feature using a ton of words, but I’m here to keep things as simple as possible.

First of all, video and audio podcasts will live side-by-side. With the press or click of a button – Turn Video On/Off – users will be able to consume the audio or video version of the podcast.

Apple is using HLS for streaming video. It ensures smooth streaming over Wi-Fi and cellular connections, regardless of speed. This means you can switch between video and audio on the fly without worrying too much about buffering.

And yes, in case you’re wondering, you will be able to download video podcasts for offline viewing, just like the audio version of it.

Last but not least, if you’re a podcast creator, Apple is announcing better monetizing opportunities as well.

Now comes the strangest part of the announcement; Apple says the new video feature is coming to iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro this spring. Users will also be able to access video on the web version of Apple Podcasts.

Apple hasn’t mentioned when the feature will be available for Mac and Apple TV users. But I’m assuming Apple will go for a larger rollout in future software updates.
