Apple has just announced the new M5 iPad Pro, and it features the company’s new N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 as well as the C1X modem.

M5 iPad Pro Offers Big Leap Forward in AI Performance While N1 and C1X Chips Improve Wireless Speed and Efficiency

In terms of design, Apple is keeping things how they were with the M4 model. Why change something that has nothing wrong with it, right? Apple believes that too. That’s why it is focusing big on the internals of iPad Pro.

New M5 Chip

If you’re buying the 256GB or 512GB models, you get 12GB of RAM on the iPad Pro. With a 9-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, Neural Accelerators, a 16-core Neural Engine, and 153GB/s memory bandwidth are part of the package. But on the CPU, you get 3 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores.

On the 1TB and 2TB models, you get a 10-core CPU with 4 performance and 6 efficiency cores, a 10-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a whopping 153GB/s memory bandwidth. That’s a big leap forward by just bumping up the storage.

Apple is focusing on AI power more with the M5, and says that it delivers up to 3.5x more AI performance compared to the M4 and 5.6x faster compared to the M1.

N1 Comes to iPad Pro

The M5 iPad Pro is the first iPad to get the N1 chip. This means the iPad Pro now supports the fast Wi-Fi 7 standard, as well as Bluetooth 6 and Thread.

Apple says the N1 improves the performance of the iPad Pro on the 5GHz network, and features like Personal Hotspot and AirDrop will see massive improvements too.

C1X Modem

The C1X made its debut with iPhone Air, and it was only logical that Apple would bring it to more devices, and it’s finally on the new iPad Pro.

Apple says that the new modem delivers 50% faster performance compared to the M4 iPad Pro with cellular, as well as efficiency, which translates directly to improved battery life on the go.

Price and Release Date

M5 iPad Pro is available in two colors – silver and space black – in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB configurations.

The 11-inch model starts at $999 like before, while the 13-inch model starts at $1,199. You can pay more to get more storage and cellular capabilities at the time of purchase.

The new iPad Pro is available for pre-order starting today and will be available directly in stores from 22nd of October.
