After ten years, WhatsApp is finally adding support for Live Photos in its app for both iPhone and iPad. Download it today.
WhatsApp Adds Live Photos Sharing for iPhone and iPad Users, Works with Android Motion Photos too
Announced as part of iPhone 6s back in 2015, Live Photos bring your photos to life by recording a small video clip of the moment alongside the photo when you press the shutter button.
While you were able to share Live Photos with your iMessage friends and family members, the feature has been missing from WhatsApp since day one.
Today, WhatsApp has announced that it is finally adding Live Photos support to its app for both iPhone and iPad.
Whenever you share a photo with someone, the photo will animate the moment they see it. Or, you can replay it by pressing the Live Photo button on the top left of the display when you view that photo.
An interesting thing to note here – you can send Live Photos to your Android friends and family members, and they can share Motion Photos back with you too. So it works both ways, ensuring everyone is on board.
The feature should be available for you right now. Make sure you update the update from the App Store.
