iPhone Air is a very powerful smartphone, given how thin it is. Apple was able to fit the A19 Pro inside it, which means you get iPhone 17 Pro levels of performance in such a thin form factor.
However, the chip used in the A19 Pro is slightly different compared to the one in the iPhone 17 Pro. While both offer a 6-core CPU, the chip in the iPhone Air has a 5-core GPU, while the one in the iPhone 17 Pro has a 6-core GPU.
While one less GPU core will show up in benchmarks as a lower score, but in everyday usage, you’ll never know what’s going on at all. This is the sort of thing that shouldn’t worry anyone, even if you plan on using the iPhone for gaming.
Apple has been using binned chips for a long time. Even the recently released iPhone 16e has a binned version of the A18 chip. In fact, Apple did the same thing on the new iPad mini with A17 Pro as well.
