Apple is going to release iOS 18.7 and iPadOS 18.7 updates for iPhone and iPad once iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 are out next month.
iOS 18.7 and iPadOS 18.7 Start Showing up in Activity Web Logs Ahead of Release Alongside iOS 26 and iPadOS 26
Last year, Apple gave everyone a choice if they wanted to stick around with iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 for a while longer. It did so by releasing iOS 17.7 and iPadOS 17.7.
This year, Apple is doing that again, and it is currently testing iOS 18.7 and iPadOS 18.7 updates for iPhone and iPad, according to web activity logs from MacRumors.
This means you don’t have to update to iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 immediately when they are released next month. However, this also means you won’t be getting any new features from iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.
The new 18.7 updates are important for those who rely on apps and software that run on older firmware only. If you ever worked in corporate with custom apps, then you know exactly what I’m talking about.
