Apple is still signing iOS 18.6.1 and iPadOS 18.6.1, which means you can downgrade from iOS 18.6.2 and iPadOS 18.6.2 on iPhone and iPad.

You Can Downgrade from iOS 18.6.2 or iPadOS 18.6.2 to iOS 18.6.1 or iPadOS 18.6.1 on iPhone and iPad for a Limited Time

Update: Apple is no longer signing iOS 18.6.1 and iPadOS 18.6.1. Downgrade from iOS 18.6.2 and iPadOS 18.6.2 is no longer possible.

Before you downgrade, it’s important that you back up everything using Finder or iCloud. It takes a few minutes and ensures you get back to your files and settings the moment the downgrade process is complete.

Make sure you have turned off Find My on your iPhone and iPad. If you don’t do this, you won’t be able to restore the firmware file using Finder on your Mac.

Download the iOS 18.6.1 or iPadOS 18.6.1 firmware file and save it to your desktop from the links below:

Once you’ve done everything above, follow these steps in order to downgrade from iOS 18.6.2 or iPadOS 18.6.2 to iOS 18.6.1 or iPadOS 18.6.1 on your iPhone and iPad.

Step 1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac using a USB-C or Lightning cable.

Step 2. Launch Finder from the Dock.

Step 3. Give it a few seconds and your device will show up in the list on the left. Click on it to reveal more options.

Step 4. You’ll either see a Restore iPhone or Restore iPad button. Hold down the left Option key on your Mac keyboard and click on it.

Step 5. Select the iOS 18.6.1 or iPadOS 18.6.1 firmware file.

Step 6. Finder will start to restore your iPhone and iPad. The entire process may take a while. Once complete, you can restore the backup you took at the start of this tutorial and start using iOS 18.6.1 or iPadOS 18.6.1 normally.

Remember, Apple will stop signing iOS 18.6.1 and iPadOS 18.6.1 at any moment after which you won’t be able to downgrade.

It was just a few days back that Apple stopped supporting iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6, stopping users from downgrading completely.
