Apple has just released developer beta 2 of macOS 26 Tahoe for compatible Mac computers, and you should download it now.

macOS 26 Tahoe Developer Beta 2 Now Available for Download with Tons of Fix and Under-the-Hood Improvements

The first beta of macOS 26 Tahoe was released right after the opening WWDC 2025 keynote, which means today is the perfect day for Apple to release the second developer beta.

And, right on time, you can now download macOS 26 Tahoe developer beta 2 on your Mac, and if you’re already using the first one, the new update is available over the air right now.

Installing the new beta takes a few clicks, if you have the first beta installed. Here’s what you need to do on your Mac:

  • Launch System Settings.
  • Click on General on the left.
  • Find Software Update on the right and click on it.
  • Wait for the page to refresh and then click on Update Now next to macOS 26 Tahoe developer beta 2.

Second developer betas tend to fix a lot of bugs, but they’re still not perfect. These updates are meant for developers for a reason, not the average user, therefore expect this update to be rough around many corners still.

Planning to download the macOS 26 Tahoe public beta? It will be available next month, according to Apple.

If you have a Mac that is compatible with macOS 26 Tahoe, then you can go right ahead and download the developer beta. It’s absolutely free, and doesn’t require any sort of payment either. Apple has completely removed the $99 a year paywall which was needed to access beta operating system.

I will still recommend installing the public beta next month, rather than deal with the developer beta. Public betas are usually more stable to work around with, and they are updated as regularly as the developer beta.

But it’s entirely up to you whether you want to download and install the update or not.
