Apple’s rumored iOS 26 AI-powered battery management system will likely launch with the iPhone 17 Air later this year.

iOS 26 will Bring AI-Powered Battery Management to All iPhones Later this Year, will Launch with iPhone 17 Air

The iPhone 17 Air is going to be so thin that it will require software wizardry in order to get through the day.

This is going to be achieved using Apple Intelligence (or artificial intelligence), and this feature is going to be a part of iOS 26.

However, this feature will be made public when the iPhone 17 Air launches later this year, and will be available for all iOS 26 devices, according to Mark Gurman in a Space he recently hosted.

The way this feature is going to work is pretty simple. AI will be used to detect usage patterns and, based on that, divert power to apps that are currently in use. This will essentially lead to better battery life.

Another thing coming to the iPhone is an indicator on the Lock Screen that will show how long it will take for the device to fully charge up. This feature keeps on popping up in reports from time to time, so I’m not going to comment on it.

A recent report also suggested that Apple is working on faster 50W MagSafe charging for the iPhone 17 lineup, allowing for faster battery top-ups when needed. I’m sure it will be accompanied by faster wired charging too.

Apple may even bring back the Smart Battery Case in order to combat the battery life situation.
