A new report sheds light on Apple’s new CEO John Ternus, saying that product design is a major priority for him.
For Apple CEO John Ternus, Product Design is a Major Priority, and we Should See New Things in the Coming Months and Years
During Tim Cook’s era, we saw a lot of old parts being recycled time and time again to create something new. Some examples include the iPhone 17e, the iPad mini with A17 Pro, and a ton more.
However, according to Mark Gurman in his PowerOn newsletter, things are going to change a lot under John Ternus’s umbrella.
The report says that product design is a major priority for John Ternus, and the new CEO has immersed himself with the industrial design and human interface teams. In fact, Mark says he spends a lot of time with the Apple design studio team, from several times a week to multiple times in a day.
This makes perfect sense, since John Ternus was Apple’s head of hardware engineering before taking reins as CEO, or as the internet loves to call him: The Product Guy.
The report says that Tim Cook would spend only an hour with the design studio in the entire month. And that makes sense too, since hardware design was not Tim Cook’s specialty, and he was deeply involved with the supply chain.
When you read the above paragraph, it almost sounds like Tim Cook’s lack of involvement was a bad thing, but it was not. Do keep in mind that Apple had an absolutely wild and fantastic run under Cook’s era despite his approach, and John has big boots to fill.
The two products that truly gives us a hint at what’s coming next are clearly the iPhone Duo, and the recently launched MacBook Neo, an entry-level laptop from Apple that does not look or feel cheap at all.
I’m not going to speculate what’s coming next from Apple, but I do know is that the CEO is well involved in everything that happens on the design front, and that makes me extremely excited.
