This was definitely a surprise announcement and one which a lot of people are going to love, because AirPods are everywhere, and Apple has improved way too much this year while delivering exceptional value.
Active Noise Cancelling
Rather than charge you extra for ANC, Apple is bringing the feature to the base $129 model. It includes 50% better active noise cancelling compared to AirPods 4 as well, which is a huge improvement.
Transparency mode is also part of the package, allowing you to keep tabs on everything that is happening around you all the time.
Improved Audio
An improved audio architecture along with Adaptive EQ allows the AirPods 5 to deliver great sound no matter where you are. And, to ensure you focus well on your audio, there’s Adaptive Audio in both models.

Model with Wireless Charging Case
If you pay $149, you get the AirPods 5 with the wireless charging case. You can charge them up on a Qi charger of your choice, or just place them on the Apple Watch charger.
The $149 model has a redesigned stem, allowing you to raise or lower the volume with the swipe, just like the AirPods Pro.
Improved Battery Life
Apple boasts improved battery life as well, saying that the new model offers up to 5 hours of playback with ANC enabled, and that number goes up to 22 hours when you include the wireless charging case.

You can pre-order the AirPods 5 today, and they will go on sale on the 18th of September. Given the great value, I won’t be surprised if these sell out fast too.
