A new report sheds light on the iPad 12 and says that it may ship with the latest A19 chip from Apple.

Apple is Going to Make a Huge Leap Forward by Bringing the A19 Chip from iPhone 17 to the iPad 12 Next Year

In case you’re wondering already, the A19 is the chip found in the iPhone 17. Definitely a very powerful chip for a smartphone.

When it comes to the base model iPad, Apple likes to keep things dialed down a little too much. Just have a look at the current iPad 11 and its A16 chip, and you’ll get an idea of what I’m talking about.

Macworld claims to have seen an internal Apple code document that references the new iPad with the A19 chip. If true, Apple is taking a huge leap forward for the base model iPad with just one upgrade.

Apple can totally get away with just throwing the A17 Pro chip inside the iPad 12 like the latest iPad mini and call it a day. But, the internal code document says Apple is going with the A19 instead, not even the A18.

With the A19 chip, the iPad will suddenly see a huge boost in performance and features, and the one which Apple is likely going to focus on is Apple Intelligence.

Although it’s far-fetched, but this sudden leap may also signal towards the fact that the base model iPad may see a two-year release cycle instead of just one. Just a speculation, nothing is set in stone.

Given the iPad 11 was announced in March of this year, it’s safe to assume that the new one will arrive during the same month in 2026.

Given how things are moving forward in the world of Apple, it’s safe to assume that the cellular model of the iPad 12 will likely come with the C1 modem, if not the C1X, while the N1 will handle all the wireless needs.

The report also says that Apple is working on a new iPad Air with M4 and the wireless N1 chip. Surprisingly, the new iPad Air will not get M5 and will stay a step behind the iPad Pro.
