While the M5 MacBook Pro was just announced, Apple’s M6 MacBook Pro with a touchscreen OLED display is coming in 2026.
Apple to Launch the New M6 MacBook Pro Next Year with OLED Touchscreen Display, Thinner and Lighter Design
Right now, everyone has their attention on the new M5 MacBook Pro. When Apple announces the M5 Pro and M5 Max models, excitement will reach an all-time high for the pro lineup.
However, a report from Bloomberg suddenly takes attention away from the new M5 notebook because in 2026, Apple has something amazing planned for its consumers.
It’s no secret that Apple is going to bring OLED display technology to the MacBook Pro lineup sooner or later, but today’s report says that it is happening next year, in 2026.
It’s not just a regular OLED display; it will have touchscreen capabilities as reported before, but we have no idea if it will offer a full-blown touch experience or if it is going to be limited in some way.
The notch is also going away, and Apple is going to replace it with a hole-punch camera, a first on the MacBook lineup. But it seems like Apple is going to skip Face ID this year in favor of Touch ID, once again.
This report does say Apple is working on a Mac with Face ID, and it will be a while before we eventually get to see it.
The new MacBook Pro with OLED display is also said to feature a thinner and lighter design, and I hope that is the case, given how efficient Apple’s silicon has become over the years.
Since this MacBook Pro is said to launch next year, it will ship with the new M6 chip. And hopefully, Apple will launch the entire lineup at the same time, which will include the M6 Pro and M6 Max.
It’s unclear whether or not Apple is going to give the new models a price bump. If the iPad Pro lineup is anything to go by, then it seems highly likely. After all, Apple is going to charge a premium for that OLED display alone.
