Apple didn’t give us full details when it announced what’s coming to AirPods at WWDC 2025. The new beta includes a couple of more features.

New AirPods Beta Includes Battery Charging Notifications and Sleep-Pause Feature

A missing feature can be upsetting, but a surprise addition is always welcome, and that’s what the new AirPods beta brings to the table.

Apple announced two new features coming to AirPods later this year – one is the ability to use AirPods as a remote for the iPhone and iPad camera, and the second is the ability to record studio-quality audio using AirPods.

There’s a third and fourth feature as well.

The moment you install the new AirPods beta onto your earbuds with iOS 26 beta installed on iPhone, you get a splash screen that tells you what’s new in the update.

The third feature is ‘Charging Reminders.’

What this does is remind you with a notification that you need to charge your AirPods. But that’s not all; when your AirPods are charged in their case, you’ll get a notification on your iPhone and iPad for it too.

The fourth feature is ‘Pause Media When I Fall Asleep.’

When enabled, when the AirPods detect that you’ve fallen asleep, it will pause the content playing on AirPods. The goal of this feature is to preserve battery charge.

As someone who falls asleep with AirPods in their ears, I love the sleep-pause feature. It’s exactly what I wanted for a long time.
