A new report says Apple plans on using AI to manage battery on your iPhone and iPad.
iOS 19 will Manage Battery on iPhone and iPad Using the Power of Apple Intelligence
iPhones and iPads manage battery for you, and it works well enough, but iOS 19 aims to take things to the next level with built-in battery management tools, powered by AI.
According to the latest report by Bloomberg, iOS 19 is going to analyze the user’s usage patterns and see where it can save battery life the most by managing background and system tasks.
This feature is apparently made to combat the underwhelming battery life of the iPhone 17 Air, and while it’s not physically possible to ship the phone with a bigger battery, Apple is going to fight it with AI instead.
The battery management feature in iOS 19 is going to be a part of the Apple Intelligence suite, which means it won’t be available on non-Apple Intelligence devices.
Another interesting feature is coming with iOS 19 and iPhone; whenever you plug in your device to charge, you will see how long it will take to reach the 100% mark.
Interestingly, this feature was rumored to be a part of iOS 18.2 as well, but it didn’t make the cut. And since this feature is back in the news once again, I’m just half excited for it.
The same report also says that iOS 19 is going to be far less glitchy than previous updates for iPhone and iPad. If that’s the case, then I’m all in.
