Apple is going to announce a new smart home hub at its ‘Welcome home’ event on Tuesday, and it will be called HomeView.
New HomeView is Apple’s Smart Home Hub with a Touchscreen Display, A18 Chip, No Third-Party App Support, and More
The news comes from Bloomberg, and they say the new HomeView smart home hub will be announced on Tuesday at Apple’s event. Apart from the name itself, a lot of hardware details have been leaked online as well.
First of all, the smart hub will have a touchscreen display, allowing users to interact with it in multiple ways. And since it’s powered by Siri AI, you can expect it to do a lot of things for you as well.
Being powered by Siri AI, you can expect it to feature a powerful CPU and a lot of RAM. The report says the hub features the A18 chip, and 8GB of RAM keeps all the AI stuff going.
You will be able to purchase the hub in two options. One has a speaker base, while the other one comes with a mount that goes on the wall. And it will be available in several colors as well, including gray, silver, starlight, and rose. The wall-mounted version is limited to just gray and silver finishes, apparently.
There are going to be built-in apps, but no third-party support. The latter could change down the line as adoption increases, but it’s clear that Apple has designed this thing around its own services.
The same report says that Apple’s HomePod mini 2 is going to be powered by the new S10 chip, and the new Apple TV 4K might have built-in microphones for Siri AI while being powered by the A19 chip with 8GB of RAM.
We’re just a day away from the event, so there’s no point in going into more details.
