If you launched the Home app this morning only to realize nothing is working, then don’t panic, you can fix everything immediately.

Apple Ends Support for Old Home Architecture Completely, Upgrade to New One to Continue Accessing Your Smart Home

Apple has been asking users to upgrade to a newer version of the Apple Home architecture for quite some time now. But if you ignored every single warning to this minute, then you might have noticed that nothing in your Apple Home app works anymore.

Instead, you get a warning saying that you should upgrade to the new Apple Home architecture to regain control. Just launch the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and select the ‘Update Apple Home’ button to upgrade immediately.

Do keep in mind that this process takes a while to complete, and during this time, make sure you do not close the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Once the update is complete, you’ll notice that your Apple Home setup is now far more responsive than before, especially cameras, if you have any around your property.

Apple says you need a device running iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, macOS 13.1, tvOS 16.2, or watchOS 9.2 or later in order to use the new Home architecture.
