Tired of hearing about haptic buttons coming to iPhone? It seems like the 20th anniversary model, or the iPhone 20, might finally get them.
Apple May Finally be Going for Solid State Haptic Buttons on the iPhone with the 20th Anniversary Model in 2027
Solid state buttons for iPhone, and other Apple devices, have been rumored for a long time. In fact, the iPhone 16 was rumored to get them as well, but it never happened.
And while we are busy digesting the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, rumors about haptic buttons is back once again.
The latest leak says that the iPhone 20, or Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone, is going to receive haptic volume, power, and Camera Control buttons.
Since these are solid-state buttons, you will get a confirmation of a press with a haptic feedback, and it will likely be mimicked by the Taptic Engine.
In case you’re wondering if this all sounds familiar, Apple has been doing this with the iPhone’s Home button since the iPhone 7 days. Apple even gave people the option to set how much haptic feedback the user got in return after pressing the button straight from the Settings app.
The thing is, Apple is not going into unfamiliar territory by introducing solid-state or haptic buttons on the iPhone. In fact, even the AirPods Pro stem mimics a press, and it is not a real button either.
The inclusion of haptic buttons should come with a huge advantage if it’s being considered by Apple, with durability being at the top of the list, and far better waterproofing.
