Does the tip of the Apple Pencil point toward the volume buttons of iPad, or should it go the other way? Let Apple answer it for you.
Apple Sits Down to Talk About M5 iPad Pro, and Discusses the Correct Orientation in Which You Should Attach Your Apple Pencil
If there’s one debate on the internet that will never be settled, it’s how the Apple Pencil should be attached to iPad. But what if it could be settled today once and for all?
Two people from Apple, Ted Merendino (iPad Product Marketing) and Ty Jordan (Product Manager for System Experiences), sat down with Stephen Robles to talk about the new M5 iPad Pro.
The interview is packed with interesting things about the M5 iPad Pro. I highly recommend watching the video in its entirety and I promise I won’t spoil it for you in any way.
But, the thing I will spoil is the part in which Apple talks about the orientation in which you attach your Apple Pencil to the iPad.
According to Ty Jordan, he attaches his Apple Pencil to iPad with the tip pointing down, away from the volume buttons. Meanwhile, Ted Merendino talks about how the Apple Pencil is designed to be attached in any orientation and always ready to go.
Stephen, on the other hand, prefers connecting the Apple Pencil in a way that the tip points towards the volume buttons. We get three answers in the video, and no two are common.
In short, the debate remains unsettled, and Apple doesn’t say which is the correct orientation, because both ways are correct.
