According to Apple, the iPhone Air supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at just 20W speeds, which is slower than iPhone 17 and 17 Pro.
iPhone Air is Slightly Slower Compared to iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro When it Comes to MagSafe and Qi2 Charging Speeds
If you go through the technical specifications of all the iPhones Apple announced on Tuesday, you’ll notice something interesting in the MagSafe and Wireless Charging Section.
According to specs published by Apple, the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max support 25W MagSafe charging as well as 25W Qi2 wireless charging. Same as last year, and definitely fast.
When it comes to iPhone Air, things are slightly different, or more specifically, a tad slower.
Apple says that the iPhone Air supports MagSafe charging at 20W and Qi2 wireless charging at 20W. Definitely a little slower compared to the rest of the lineup.
But the question is: will it matter too much? I believe there’s nothing to worry about. Because, 20W is still pretty fast when you compare it to 15W MagSafe charging.
What really makes this whole thing interesting is how the newly announced iPhone Air MagSafe Battery provides up to 12W of power as well. Apple is not aiming for fast, but rather efficiency.
