You can now download and instal the new macOS 15.6 Sequoia RC update for the Mac in a few easy steps, and I’ll show you how.

Download and Install macOS 15.6 Sequoia RC Update Today on Your Mac by Simply Signing up to the Public Beta

I’m sure you were expecting Apple to release the new developer beta of macOS 26 Tahoe today. However, Apple is kicking things off by releasing the RC version of macOS 15.6 Sequoia first, with build number 24G84.

If you already have the developer or public beta installed, you can download the new macOS 15.6 RC update by following these steps:

  • Launch System Settings.
  • Click on General.
  • Click on Software Update on the right.
  • Now click on Update Now when the RC update shows up.

Interestingly, anyone can go ahead and download the new macOS 15.6 RC update. All you have to do is sign up for the public beta, which is absolutely free. Once you do that, the update will show up in Software Update.

Given the RC update was released today, the final version will likely be released next week. I will recommend waiting till next week to install macOS 15.6. But if you’re in a rush for any reason at all, I’m not going to stop you.

On the other hand, macOS 26 Tahoe is currently available as a developer beta, while the public beta is set for release this week as well. Whichever you want to download and install is entirely up to you, just make sure you check your device’s compatibility with it before going ahead.

Once you do install the update, you’ll be welcomed by the all-new Liquid Glass interface, which is absolutely stunning. It’s the finest user interface Apple has ever done, and it’s now up to developers to make sure their apps sit well with the aesthetic benchmark Apple has set.

I’m really excited what developers will do with their apps on macOS 26 Tahoe, and it will be a huge departure from the standard Apple has set for the Mac for a long time. In some cases, it definitely will change the way we interact with the Mac.
