Which Apple TV models will be compatible with tvOS 26? According to a leak posted online, pretty much all of them.

tvOS 26 will be Announced on Monday, Which Apple TV Models will be Compatible?

So far, Apple has been very generous when it comes to tvOS updates. What I mean is, pretty much all Apple TV models end up receiving the update anyway, going all the way back to 2015.

According to information shared by a private account on X, it seems as though Apple is doing the same thing as last year and making tvOS 26 available for all devices once again.

Apple TV models supported by tvOS 26 will be as follows:

  • Apple TV 4K (2017, 2021, and 2022 models)
  • Apple TV HD (2015)

It’s pretty incredible that a set-top box that’s ten years old at this point will be getting Apple’s latest software update too. Sure, it might not get all the features, but it will be tvOS 26, no matter how you slice it.

In other words, just like watchOS 26, no device from the Apple TV lineup is being left behind this year.

While details regarding tvOS 26 are relatively unknown, rumors have it that Apple will give tvOS a redesign as well. In terms of features, it’s hard to speculate what we might end up seeing.

Usually, improvements to how TV+ works are always part of the package, and how HomeKit works on a daily basis, ensuring our smart home devices are quick and responsive whenever being accessed from outside the home.

Monday is not too far away, and everything will be revealed at WWDC 2025.
