Apple has shared some interesting stats regarding iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 ahead of WWDC 2025.

Apple Shares How Many iPhones and iPads are Running iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 Ahead of WWDC 2025

According to Apple, iOS 18 is installed on 82% of all active iPhones around the world, and that’s a massive number. Not only that, Apple says iOS 18 is installed on 88% of all iPhones released in the last four years. Again, a big number.

When it comes to iPadOS 18, the numbers are interesting as iOS 18.

Apple says iPadOS 18 is installed on 71% of all active iPads around the world, whereas the software update is installed on 81% of iPads released in the past four years. If you want to go slightly deeper into the numbers shared by Apple, there is some interesting information here as well.

Apple says 8% of iPhones released in the past four years are currently on iOS 17, whereas 4% are running an older version of the software. Overall, 9% of iPhone users are currently on iOS 17, whereas the remaining 9% are running an older version of iOS.

For iPad, 12% of iPads introduced in the last four years are running iPadOS 17, while the remaining 7% are running an older version of iPadOS. 14% of all iPads are running iPadOS 17 meanwhile the remaining 15% are running older software.

Next week at WWDC 2025, Apple is going to announce iOS 26 and iPadOS 26. It remains to be seen if it will see adoption like iOS 18 – better, equal, or worse.

The way I see it, iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 are going to face a lot of resistance in the first few days, because it’s a huge change to the way users operate their iPhones and iPads.
