A fresh report says that Apple is going to announce iOS 26 at WWDC 2025, not iOS 19.
New Report Says Apple is Not Going to Announce iOS 19 Next Month, it Will be iOS 26
Yesterday’s report by Bloomberg was an interesting one. It said Apple is going to break away from its traditional numbering scheme for iOS releases in favor of something entirely new.
Rather than calling the next version of the iPhone operating system iOS 19, Apple is going to call it iOS 26. Just like how car manufacturers do it for new models.
If a car is released in the year 2025, it will be the 2026 model for that year.
Apple is doing this for all of its operating systems, including iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. Just don’t forget to put a ’26’ at the end.
Today, Marko Zivkovic from AppleInsider has confirmed ‘independently’ that this is the case and Apple is going to call it iOS 26, instead of iOS 19.
We now have two solid sources saying the same thing, which means we should practice calling it iOS 26 from now on.
Whatever Apple ends up announcing next week, we know for sure that it is going to be a big release because it will offer a redesigned UI. Not only that, it will ship with a bunch of interesting features too, including Stage Manager for iPhone.
The new update is also expected to feature a brand-new gaming app, which will be a combination of the App Store and Game Store.
WWDC 2025 is set for the 9th of June, and Apple will release the first beta of iOS 26 right after the opening keynote.
