A new leak suggests that Apple is going to use a hole-punch camera on the outer display of the folding iPhone.
Apple Going for Hole-Punch Camera for Outer Display on its Folding iPhone
The one thing that will make the folding iPhone great is how Apple plans to ship it with an internal display that has no visible crease at all.
Not only that, the inner display is also said to feature an aspect ratio similar to that of iPad, and Apple might even utilize an under-display camera on the inner display for a seamless viewing experience too.
However, details regarding the external display are rather sparse.
Digital Chat Station has chimed in with some new details and has shared what the aspect ratio of the external and internal display will be, and an interesting little camera-related detail too.
The internal display will be 14.1:10, while the internal display will be 14.6:10. However, the external display will have a hole-punch camera, while the internal display will have an under-display camera.
The folding iPhone is also said to feature Touch ID instead of Face ID.
The Touch ID bit is rather interesting and has been a part of the conversation for a long time. Some reports even say Apple might go with an under-display Face ID sensor instead.
The outer display is expected to be 5.5 inches big, while the internal one will be 7.8 inches, which is an inch smaller than iPad mini.
The folding iPhone is expected to be released in the second half of 2026, according to the roadmap shared by Ming-Chi Kuo a few days ago.
