Apple is working on a pair of AirPods with built-in cameras, and an official video for it has been leaked from the macOS 26.7 RC.

macOS 26.7 Tahoe RC Spills the Beans on Apple’s Upcoming AirPods with Built-in Cameras and Visual Intelligence

Siri AI and Visual Intelligence is Apple’s next big thing, and it’s only useful if it’s properly implemented in the right places, and turns out, AirPods is one of those places.

In a leaked video from Apple, discovered by Aaron Perris, via MacRumors, we get a glimpse of these AirPods, powered by Siri AI and Visual Intelligence:

Using the built-in cameras on the AirPods, Visual Intelligence will be able to see the world around you, and you can save stuff for later, or get answers related to things you’re looking at immediately.

Given Apple’s obsession with privacy, it’s safe to assume that you cannot use these cameras for taking photos or recording video at all, something that is rumored for the upcoming smart glasses too.

AirPods will even notify the wearer if the camera is covered or obstructed in any way. This is the alert users will get:

To get the most accurate information about things in your environment, make sure AirPods are not covered.

News surrounding AirPods with cameras is not new at all. We’ve been hearing about this for quite some time now, but the great news here is that we will finally see them in our hands or ears in September, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra.

While this feature is definitely cool, I’m more interested in the other aspects of these AirPods. For example, will these cameras be offered as a separate purchase option, or will these be the default going forward? And, more importantly, is Apple going to improve audio quality further this year?
