Apple has released developer beta 2 of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 for iPhone and iPad, and those testing beta 1 can download it over the air.

Whenever Apple releases the first developer beta of a new software update, it keeps it around for at least two weeks before seeding the second beta. Staying true to its tradition, beta 2 of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 is available to download after two weeks.
If you’re already testing the first developer beta of iOS 27 or iPadOS 27, you can install the new update over the air immediately. In order to do that, follow the steps outlined below:
- Make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi and have 50% or more battery.
- Launch the Settings app.
- Go to General > Software Update.
- When you see the new developer beta 2, tap on Update Now.
Your device will start downloading the update and install it afterwards. The entire process may take a while since this is beta software.

It’s recommended that you keep your iPhone and iPad backed up at all times just in case. Installing beta software is risky, and there are chances that you may end up losing your files, photos, videos, etc.
Given how stable and fast the first developer beta was, it only makes sense that Apple has refined the new update even further. However, I will not recommend installing the beta this early on. Wait until the public beta arrives, and then go ahead and take the update for a spin.
If you’re mostly dealing with first-party software, you can get by a lot of things. But at this point in time, third-party app support is close to none. If your favorite app is currently broken, it will stay that way for a long time as developers prioritize the publicly available software more, which happens to be iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.
