Apple has just released a new firmware update – version 8B40 – for the latest AirPods Pro 3 earbuds.

New Firmware 8B40 for AirPods Pro 3 Now Available for Download with Bug Fixes

At the end of March, Apple released firmware update 8B39 for the AirPods Pro 3, and the new update takes it to 8B40.

Given it’s such a small jump in version number, it’s safe to assume that this is likely a bug fix update, nothing else.

You can force the update onto your AirPods Pro 3 manually, and you’ll find the necessary steps posted here.

However, if you don’t want to read all that, then all you have to do is connect your AirPods Pro 3 to your iPhone or iPad, and then make sure the charging case is connected to a charger.

It usually takes about half an hour for the update to install, and you can confirm on your iPhone and iPad that the update has been installed by going to Settings > AirPods, and then checking the build number at the bottom.
