Apart from ChatGPT, users will be able to choose any other third-party AI service of their choice to power Apple Intelligence in iOS 27.

Apple Intelligence in iOS 27 will Allow Users to Select Other Third-Party AI Models in Places Like Writing Tools and Image Playground

A while back, we came across a report that said Apple was going to open up Siri to third-party AI service using a feature called ‘Extensions.’ Basically, allowing you to tap into other AI models like Claude and Gemini.

Turns out, the feature won’t be limited to Siri at all, and a new report by Bloomberg says this feature extends to other parts of Apple Intelligence as well.

Right now, you have the option to tap into the power of ChatGPT in Writing Tools and Image Playground to create text or images. In iOS 27, you can simply select some other AI service to do this, such as Claude, Gemini, Grok, or whatever is supported at the time.

This feature is rather interesting, given the fact that Apple is partnering with Google to power the next version of Siri using Gemini. Allowing even more third-party AI services for answers means iPhone, iPad, and Mac users will end up with more choice in how Apple Intelligence on their device works.

We are just a month away from the official announcement of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. Everything will be clear what Apple has in store for us at WWDC26.
