Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed how the new Gemini-powered Siri will work, and you can rest assured it’s going to keep your data private.

CEO Tim Cook Promises that the Upcoming Gemini-Powered Siri will be Highly Secure and Will Keep User Data Private

Backend details surrounding the Gemini-powered Siri are murky. However, during Apple’s Q1 2026 earnings call, CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the upcoming version of Siri focuses a lot on privacy.

Tim Cook says that while Siri will be powered by Gemini at the backend, it won’t be hosted on Google’s servers; instead, it will be powered by Apple’s own Private Cloud Compute.

This means user data remains secure whenever a request reaches Apple. While Private Cloud Compute promises that third-parties won’t be able to see your data, the great news is that even Apple doesn’t have access to it either.

In case you were doubtful that a Gemini-powered Siri might be a compromise in terms of security and privacy, you can rest assured that it won’t be.

Here’s the full quote from Tim Cook:

We basically determined that Google’s AI technology would provide the most capable foundation for AFM (Apple Foundation Models), and we believe that we can unlock a lot of experiences and innovate in a key way due to the collaboration. We’ll continue to run on the device and run in Private Cloud Compute and maintain our industry-leading privacy standards in doing so. In terms of the arrangement with Google, we’re not releasing the details of that.

It’s unclear when exactly the new Siri will become available for everyone. While rumors say Apple is going to release it with iOS 26.4 and macOS 26.4, it’s best that we rely on Apple’s official word instead. And so far, there’s nothing precise, except that it’s coming ‘this year.’
